Having mentioned Peter Hitchens's piece on the creeping security state in Britain, I ought to call attention to what's going on right here in America, too. This piece in the Washington Post shows that in one state, at least, Americans are willing to put up a little resistance — though whether the costumes are really a good idea is debateable, to say the least:
