How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization — on TV
EWTN is airing a 13-part documentary based on Tom Woods’s 2005 book How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization. Catch it Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Eastern (or Thursday mornings at 2 a.m.).
Tom also has a new book out, which I haven’t read yet, called Sacred Then and Sacred Now: The Return of the Old Latin Mass. He discusses the book here. I’m going to have to track down a copy.

I have both, each is excellent. The second has helped me understand a bit more about the latin Mass I have recently started to attend. I am re-reading the first as I move along with the EWTN series.

Is the EWTN series ever likely to come to DVD or (dare i say it) Youtube?

That’s a good question. From what Tom tells me, the show is mostly him talking to the camera, which I think is certainly still worth a DVD, but the people who make and market such things may or may not agree. But it ought to be disseminated far and wide, one way or another. I’ll see if there are any plans.
