Saving the Village by Nuking It
…not quite, but according to Seymour Hersh's Pentagon sources, Bush does think he can save Iran with a little help from the power of the atom:
A senior Pentagon consultant said that Mr Bush believes that he must do "what no Democrat or Republican, if elected in the future, would have the courage to do," and "that saving Iran is going to be his legacy".
But don't worry, the president would use a smart nuke. One with a "dial-a-yield" feature — "from less than a kiloton to several hundred kilotons." Needless to say, it would be unpatriotic to ask what would happen if one of these smart nukes failed to detonate, maybe thanks to a broken dial-a-yield thingumbob, and thus handed the Iranians their first complete nuclear device.
